TRAINING ADVICE FROM B.A.A. HIGH PERFORMANCE COACH MARK CARROLL
It's time to begin planning and simulating your virtual race! Unlike your normal in-person marathon experiences, you will now have to plan your virtual marathon course and hydration plan. You are now your own race director!

Careful planning for and simulation of your virtual marathon experience over the next 8 weeks will prepare you for race day, maximize your performance, and enhance your overall enjoyment of this unique opportunity.

Simulate your race in the coming long runs to familiarize yourself with your potential course, hydration plan, and best start times. Identify any potential obstacles to the success of your race and make accommodations ahead of time to overcome them. It’s never too early to start planning.

Don’t forget to practice and plan your hydration, too! It’s especially important to drink at least 6 ounces of water every 3-4 miles when running in the heat of summer.

In a future newsletter we'll highlight ways to create your own course that suits your strengths!

BOSTON MARATHON VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER CHALLENGE
The Boston Marathon would not be complete without volunteers, and we are excited to announce the inclusion of volunteers as part of the Boston Marathon Virtual Volunteer Challenge. Volunteers who pledged to support participants in April are encouraged to give back to their communities, Boston Marathoners, and Boston Marathon Official Charity Partners through a variety of socially distant activities.
